Do you want to make changes to your life but feel stuck? Are you frustrated because of the conflicting information on what’s healthy and what’s not? Or are you just finding life overwhelming? You’re not alone.
Most ‘get healthy’ programs won’t work because they don’t recognize your individual circumstances such as lifestyle (including family, friends, work, stress levels), or your individual physiology (food sensitivities, metabolism, gut health, etc). One size does not fit all.

Most Health Coaches believe in a holistic approach to good health. Relationships, career, physical activities, nutrition, and even spirituality are all interconnected so changes in one area may affect the others. Considering all aspects of your life – your individuality – is integral to making long-lasting healthy transformation. Quality, evidence-based information is also essential and a good health coach will be able to provide the best advice available.
Working with a Health Coach will:
- Help you take the next step: Most of us know what we should be doing to improve our health – eat better and exercise more. So, why aren't we doing it? Sometimes we get stuck – the diet plan or the new exercise regime works for a short time and then we give up, feeling overwhelmed and a failure. And sometimes, we are resistant to making changes. A health coach will help you acknowledge resistance and work with you to develop strategies that will get you unstuck. Usually these involve making small consistent changes that you can easily incorporate into your lifestyle.
- Provide you with quality information: More and more often we get stuck because we don't know what to do. There is so much conflicting information available. A good health coach will be able to suggest evidence-based strategies that work for you.
- Provide support: Making the changes to transform your life - to be healthier, stronger, and more energized - means stepping outside your comfort zone and this can be hard if you're doing it on your own. A health coach will provide a supportive, confidential, and non-judgmental environment so you can express yourself freely.
- Provide accountability: At the end of a health coaching session, it's routine to decide on a course of action for the next couple of weeks or until the next session. Having this agreement may be the push needed to try something slightly outside of your comfort zone while making progress towards achieving your goals.
- Focus on the cause, not just the symptoms: Treating the symptom without dealing with the cause of the problem doesn't work. But it happens all the time. For example, dieting is unsuccessful in trying to lose those last few kilos when the cause of the weight gain is either due to emotional eating or stress. Most health coaches take a holistic approach to health by considering all aspects of your health and happiness – nutrition, fitness, relationships, career, and spirituality. They all interconnect and influence each other.
